Julian Watts

         Coach Julian Watts attended St. Anthony’s High School where he played and lettered in lacrosse, football and basketball. His senior year, he collected 42 ground balls and was also named an All-Conference Selection in lacrosse and an All-League selection in football. Watts chose to play lacrosse at the collegiate level after Hofstra University added him to their team in 2004.
         While at Hofstra, Watts played in 60 games as a defender from 2004-2007, was named team captain his senior year, as well as to the CAA All-Tournament Team.
         In 2007, after college, Julian was acquired by the New York Lizards and played in 20 games for them for five seasons. He scored three goals and collected 20 ground balls by the end of his career with the Lizards. After playing in MLL from 2007-2012. Watts entered the 2012 MLL Supplemental Draft and was drafted to Hamilton as the 13th round pick and 103rd Overall pick. He played in two games with the Nationals.
         Julian has taken his love for the game and his experience over to Huntington High School where has become the Varsity head coach. He also works in the districts High School as a Dean.
         “Huntington has such a well established lacrosse community and I want to continue it’s winning tradition. My goal is to develop young men that will represent this program by their good character and work ethic. At the same time, reminding them they’re playing for the people who support us in this town, their love for the lacrosse and their teammates.”

           After graduating from Plainview High School in 2005, he played goalie for Varsity all four of his years.  Andy continued to play lacrosse for Nassau Community College for two years. He then finished his college lacrosse career playing at Plattsburgh.  Andy helped to start the lacrosse program at Roosevelt, where the program eventually grew to be a Varsity program. “I coached those kids from 3rd grade all the way up through High School.” Andy was the Varsity Head coach for 6 years until coming over to Huntington.  Known as, "Coach Gootz," Andy’s committed to building the Huntington program alongside Coach Watts.
           “I’m honored to be apart of the Huntington program. Having available resources to put Huntington back on the map is exciting. Huntington is a great town with a great community and I am very proud to be a part of it all.”

       

      George Powers

      We welcomed Coach Powers to Team Huntington in 2023. He comes with a resume like no other. From 1984 - 2003 and again 2009-10, he was Nassau Community Colleges Defensive Coordinator. In between is time at Nassau, from 2004 - 2008, he took on the role at Massapequa HS, as the Boys Lacrosse Defensive Coordinator. From there he returned back in 2011 - 2016 to become Nassau CC - Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach. George went back to Massapequa from 2017- 2021  to be the Massapequa HS- Boys Lacrosse Defensive Coordinator. Then in 2022  he worked at Oceanside HS - Boys Lacrosse Defensive Coordinator before joining forces with Coach Watts & Coach Guitz in 2023 at Huntington HS  as the Boys Lacrosse Offensive Coordinator. We look forward to more time with him at Huntington.

      Coach Troffa is a proud Blue Devil who bleeds blue on many levels. He was born and raised in Huntington and graduated from Huntington High School in 1993 as a four year player. He currently coaches the JV Lacrosse team and he is a teacher in the district. “It gives me a great sense of pride to have been part of and continue to be a part of a long tradition of excellent lacrosse in Huntington”. Coach Troffa enjoys coaching throughout the year and helping players and the program to continuously improve. Some of his finest moments as a coach were being a part of the 2005 and 2006 State Championship teams and witnessing how important it was to the players, parents and community as a whole. Most recently it was amazing to see our varsity team make it to the second round of playoffs during the 2022 season.

           Coach Mike Corcoran is a former close defensive player for Huntington High School (Class of '09). While on the team, he won the Fred Cambria Award for Sportsmanship in his senior year. Beyond high school, he played rec league lacrosse on campus at Coastal Carolina University. Through his playing journey, a passion for coaching started developing and came to fruition during his first year teaching at Smithtown HS East. Coming back and teaching at Huntington HS, Coach Corcoran sprung on the opportunity to continue his coaching as the JV assistant coach where he looks to build on the program for the Blue Devils.

      • JV Girls Lacrosse Coach Huntington High School

       Ivano grew up in Huntington NY. He started his lacrosse career playing for the Huntington Village lacrosse league starting in second grade through 8th grade. He then attended St. Dominic’s HS and played Varsity lacrosse throughout his time there as an attackman. He received the Coach’s award in 2009, his final season. He went on to attend Sacred Heart University and played as an attackman his freshman year. Then he transferred to LIU Post to play for Coach John Jez and finish out his college career. Ivano played in the National Championship against Limestone his senior year. In 2015, Ivano was the Offensive coordinator for the Whitman Varsity boys team. As a native of Huntington, Ivano would love to give back to the community that helped develop his love for lacrosse. He is currently a teacher at Woodhull intermediate, where he encourages student every day to follow their dreams on and off the field. Ivano is the Assistant Coach for JV girls lacrosse at Huntington High School.
